James Carroll is an Emmy-winning filmmaker who has spent more than 20 years telling true stories for Netflix, Crave, CBS and nearly every major network. As a director, executive producer, editor and cinematographer, he's known for bringing the tension and polish of scripted film to real-world stories about crime, corruption and the people caught in the middle.

He co-directed Netflix's Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer, and was co-executive producer and lead editor of WACO: American Apocalypse, back to back #1 world wide hits on Netflix. Most recently he executive produced Crave's Mafia: Most Wanted and Narco Mennonites. Earlier in his career he produced and edited the acclaimed feature documentaries The Seven Five and Operation Odessa, won Emmys editing CBS's Undercover Boss, and co-created, directed and narrated Our Thing, the Sammy "The Bull" Gravano podcast with more than 150 million views.

Today James is also working on a new frontier: AI filmmaking. His near-future LA noir short Lost Angel: The Last Day is an Official Selection of the 2026 Neu Wave AI Film Festival in Los Angeles. With a camera crew or a new set of tools, his goal is the same: find the truth and make people feel it.
